My Chiropractic Story:

‘I was blessed to be raised in a family who knew chiropractic long before I was born and because of that, I have been adjusted since conception! As a child I was rarely sick and didn’t suffer from ear infections and other common childhood issues. Regular chiropractic care and quality whole food supplements allowed me to realize that our Creator designed an amazing body that is self-healing and self-regulating. In choosing a career, it made sense to use my passion for natural health care to help others experience what I have in my life. It is awesome to see how chiropractic care has benefited both myself and the people I have encountered up to this point. I look forward to helping the Bloomington community get well and stay well!’

A NOTE FROM DR. MARANDA:

‘I am currently taking a break from practicing to raise our growing family. While a part of my heart longs to care for other people using the skills God has gifted me with, we also feel that during this season of life I need to be home with the children He has blessed us with. Thank you for understanding my desire to focus on my family.’

He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Logan University and his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO. My Chiropractic Story:

‘My story is 180 degrees in the opposite direction from my wife’s. I grew up constantly sick, being in and out of the doctor’s office seemingly my entire childhood. Antibiotics and other medications were an ordinary part of growing up for me. From ear infections and strep throat to asthma and allergies, you name it and I probably had it at some point. I have always wanted to be able to help other people and an education in the health care field seemed to be the most fitting way for me to do that. I had only been to a chiropractor once in the first 22 years of my life, for none other than low back pain in high school. After looking into numerous professions, I felt right at home with the hands on approach to health that chiropractic care offered. I originally went to chiropractic school with the mindset that chiropractic care was only for pain relief. However, the more time I spent learning about health and the body itself, the more I began to see clearly what amazing things the body can do on its own. I have become very passionate about what chiropractic can do for people, as I have seen some amazing changes in my life and the lives of others as a result of chiropractic care. I also understand some views and uncertainty that many people still hold in their minds, because it wasn’t very long ago that those views were my own. It is my goal to make clear for others the true meaning of living a healthy life.’

Jaqie Kennell

Office Manager – Nutrition Response Testing Practitioner

In 2013 my husband suggested I seek chiropractic care and nutrition because he was raised in that type of lifestyle and knew the benefits firsthand. He wanted me to be as healthy as I could be, but I was so hesitant because of my medical background. I have worked in nursing homes, on hospital floors, in emergency departments and as a paramedic on the streets. I came to HLFC as a “healthy” person, with no real complaint, but interested in seeing a broader picture of healthcare. After becoming a patient I learned that just because I think I am healthy, does not mean deep down my body can heal appropriately or naturally. I learned the true meaning of how to take care of my body from the inside out. And most importantly, I have learned the tools to help our children grow up to be better and healthier individuals too.

Background

My very first experience with Healthy Living Family Chiropractic started with my nephew, who had been getting adjusted at HLFC since he was a baby. He was sick with a fever and cold symptoms. I happened to be with my sister at the time of his adjustment (which I did not support at the time) and got to watch the magic happen first-hand. Dr. Chad adjusted him; the adjustment worked a little mini-miracle and within an hour, yes – an hour, my nephew was laughing, playing and acting like he never skipped a beat. I was so intrigued after that. I had never seen someone bounce back so quickly without invasive intervention and I had been in healthcare for years! MY very first adjustment was from Dr. Chad and boy was I nervous. But I felt such a difference afterwards. What an eye-opening experience. Nutrition Response Testing and Chiropractic was such a foreign concept for me prior to coming here and I was extremely skeptical. However, after actually seeing the results for myself, I couldn’t have made a better decision. I currently work as HLFC’s Office Manager which means I get to see every part of what we stand for…everything from the smiles of kids who actually feel good, to the hugs of loved ones who are excited to have their family member back. I also have been able to pursue Nutrition Response Testing and have become a practitioner myself. So not only do I get to feel good, not only do I get to see the good that goes through our office, but I get to help others firsthand achieve their good! We truly view our patients as extended family and I am so blessed to be a part of this amazing team! God has blessed me in so many ways and HLFC is one of my favorites.

I joined the HLFC team in 2017. I live in Arrowsmith on a farm with my husband, Mike, and my son, Brayden. In my spare time I love camping (let’s be honest…GLAMPING), kayaking, ATVing with my boys, and spending time with my chickens. I love all things chickens and really am THAT crazy chicken lady. I even have shoes with chickens on them.

I was introduced to chiropractic care when I was a teenager. I struggled with debilitating menstrual cramps and found that if I got adjusted right before my cycle started I was cramp free. I instantly became a believer in the power of chiropractic and have been under consistent care since that time. My love for chiropractic inspired me to work in the field. I have worked in chiropractic clinics since 2009.

When my son, Brayden, was an infant he struggled with constant ear infections and often ran very high temperatures with them. Our pediatrician approached us about putting tubes in his ears. It just didn’t seem like the right approach to take at the time so I began seeking out an alternative. We started Chiropractic care with Brayden instead. He has not had a single ear infection since the day he started care at 3 months old!! Not only that, but we also noticed that he wasn’t getting sick or spiking fevers anymore either. It’s like his immune system was super charged and finally operating how God had designed it to. Today he is a very healthy teenager and we attribute that to the consistent chiropractic care he has received through the years.

Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) was something new I got to experience in this clinic and it has been life changing for me. When I began working at HLFC I had just been diagnosed with Hoshimoto’s and was experiencing every symptom you could imagine from a Thyroid that was out of balance. Not to mention the countless other symptoms that come with an autoimmune disorder. Since starting NRT my Thyroid levels have balanced out and I no longer suffer from the symptoms that were holding me hostage. My last blood work panel showed no signs of Hoshimoto’s and a happy, healthy Thyroid. Something I was told by doctors would never be possible. NRT combined with chiropractic care have been instrumental in my family’s overall health and in keeping our bodies functioning optimally.
